Using Hatbox
Hatbox is a browser-local Character chat workspace; Hatbox Connect relays a ChatGPT sign-in response. Neither provides accounts, models, hosted content, or cross-device sync.
You control the connected ChatGPT account and must meet its eligibility requirements. Keep sign-in details private; OpenAI model availability and limits apply separately. Hatbox is currently free; that can change.
Your content and intellectual property
Use only content you have the rights or permission to use; importing something gives you no rights in another person's work.
We claim no ownership of your content. You permit only the processing needed for actions you request. Rights in generated output depend on applicable law and the upstream service's terms.
Acceptable use
Applicable law and upstream service policies continue to apply. You must not:
- use Hatbox or imported content unlawfully or infringe another person's rights;
- bypass authentication, rate limits, safety controls, or the selected model route;
- interfere with the service, probe other users, distribute credentials, or submit malicious Character Card content.
Hatbox does not silently switch models to avoid a policy, limit, or availability failure.
Third-party services and local data
ChatGPT, browser stores, and Character Card sources have their own terms, pricing, and availability; we do not control them. ChatGPT use remains subject to the OpenAI Terms of Use and related policies that apply to your account and location.
We do not guarantee uninterrupted service, a particular model, or compatibility with every Character Card or browser. Local records can be lost if you clear site data—export a backup via Me > Data.
Changes and liability
We may change or discontinue features and may restrict access to protect the service, comply with law, or respond to misuse. Changes are shown by the date at the top of this page.
Hatbox is provided "as is," without warranties of any kind. To the extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect damages or lost data. If you are dissatisfied, your remedy is to stop using Hatbox and remove your local data.
